Last Tuesday morning Bailey-James woke up breathing hard. I called the vet and they had me bring him right in. I just didn't think much of it but as they looked at him closer they then told me that he would need to spend the day there and
passably more. Later that day we moved him over the the hospital where he was for 6 nights. It was determined that he had a a punctured lung. He fought hard, but we made the hard decision to put him down today. A post mortem showed that there was some type of cyst deep in his lung that had burst, maybe 1 inch by 1.5 inches.... and caused a lot of damage, so in hindsight we made the only decision that could be made. A small comfort, but good to know nonetheless. Josh and I had the chance to go see him last night. As we walked in he tried to stand but couldn't, we went right to him sat down on the floor and he laid his head in my lap. Tears. It was so hard but so good. We sat there told him what a great dog he was and how much we loved him. My black pants still have his blond hair on them and I don't know when I will wash them. Today after Molly got home from school Josh and I sat down with the kids and told them the sad news. Each kid was so different in how they took the news.
Owie didn't know what was going on, sweet boy. Annie couldn't stop talking. And Molly just sat there with tears running down her sweet face. Josh pulled her into his lap and she cried. More TEARS. He was a wonderful dog, a running buddy, amazing with the kids, Molly's first friend, Josh and my first dog, he didn't bark the list could go on and on. I know one day we will get another dog but Bailey-James was a one of a kind very loved member of our family. We will miss you Bubba!
